Golden Youth AwardsObjectives
To commemorate His Majesty the King’s 50th birth anniversary, YDF will start an annual golden Youth Award for the most outstanding youth in 2008. To be presented annually beginning 11th November, 2008, the Golden Youth Award will be given to the youths who demonstrate outstanding achievements not only in academics but also in other categories such as sports, artistic, leadership, cultural and social contribution. Young people of Bhutan have always held a special place in our Monarch’s heart therefore, the golden youth award besides being a tribute to His Majesty the 4th King is also to recognize and motivate youth who reveal leadership and outstanding qualities. All youth who fulfill the criteria are eligible to participate in the award. The nominations must be made through an organization or a committee by filling up the Golden Youth Award entry form <<click to download entry form>>. A National Organizing Committee with members from various relevant organizations has already been formed to make the selection process efficient, effective and fair. Dzongkhags Sub Committees have also been formed to conduct primary round of the selection at the Dzongkhag level. They will select 10 youth for each dzongkhag who will attend the “Golden Youth Camp” for the final selection of the award winners. The fund for the Golden Youth Award was raised from private donors who sponsored the compilation of a special book of birthday wishes in Dzongkha and English from youth all over Bhutan for His Majesty, the 4th King. The book was presented to His Majesty on 11th November, 2005 by YDF representing the youth of Bhutan. YDF raised a total of Nu. 697,000 from the private donors who sponsored one of the 50 wishes compiled in the book. CriteriaPotential recipients have to be from classes VI, VIII, X and XII who have made tremendous contribution in various areas in your school, community and the society.
