Youth Volunteers in Action
The Y-VIA (Youth Volunteers in Action ) is one of the most important wing under the YDF since it involves youth participation and involvement in the not only implementing the activities but also through the appraising and planning phases of projects.
Y-VIA came into existence on March 2003 as the first youth wing under the YDF.
The following are the main functions and objectives of the Y- VIA:
- plan activities for youth mainly on issues that concern them
- offer youth perspectives when ever required by YDF in terms of developing youth programs and projects
- Volunteer during all YDF activities
- Mobilize more Y- VIA through out the country and create awareness on yout participation and volunteerism.
The first group of Y- VIA consisted of 30 member youth from different sectors and background. Since then Y- VIA has been able mobilize more than 100 youth volunteers and carry out many activities and programs.

Terms of Reference
Eligibility:
- On Voluntary basis
- Enterprising, Enthusiastic, Interested, Motivated
- Should be able to communicate fluently in at least one language
- No discrimination; “Affirmative Action”
- Can be of any Profession
- No criminal record unless rehabilitated
Tenure:
- For Core Members: Can choose to formally exit Y-VIA with a formal letter to Chairman
- For Student Volunteers: Can leave whenever their task is completed
- For Observers: Flexible
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Needs to be a responsible person
- No smoking, drinking or inappropriate behavior during Y-VIA meetings, activities
- Attend all Y-VIA meetings; inform in advance if cannot attend
- Initiate Youth Projects and Activities
